The Blue Devils battled until the clock went off to capture their first South Shore League win against the Hull pirates tonight. Ann-Lucie Pierre got to the line early in the first half and knocked down a couple jumpers to spark an aggressive tone on offense. Despite senior captain Johnae Jambu being in early foul trouble, she contributed 5 points to help surge Randolph to a 24-22 lead at halftime. The second half began with a couple strong defensive plays and finishes by sophomore guard Zharyah Moore and freshman Janae Gomes. With time left in regulation, two of Randolph’s starters had fouled out, but that did not deter the rest of the teams efforts to finish strong. After a couple big threes by Hull, Janae Gomes pushed the ball up the court with only a few seconds in regulation and assisted teammate, Anea Gamble for a clutch layup to tie it up. Overtime was a test of each teams foul shooting ability. Randolph’s Guards, Moore and Gomes took over, sinking 5/6 from the line to help secure the Blue Devils first South Shore League win this season. Randolph is now 7-3 and hosts Mashpee this Friday.
